Not Every Touch Is Innocent. Guard Your Space.
I was traveling to Lagos by bus—just another long, noisy journey I had grown used to. But as I approached the terminal, my eyes landed on someone… and my heart skipped a beat.
It was the same feeling I got when I met my first wife.
She was stunning—glowing in native asoebi, yet clearly overwhelmed. A baby strapped to her back, a heavy bag dragging behind her. A man trailed closely, holding a young boy by the hand. From their attire, they looked like a couple… but something felt off.
She struggled with her luggage. He watched, cold and detached. Ego? Pride? Fatigue? I didn’t know. But lust and opportunity shook hands in my heart.
Should I go or not?
I rushed over, smiling like a Good Samaritan. “Let me help you,” I said. She hesitated, then surrendered the load. I heaved it into the bus. Her husband shot me a daggered look. I smiled and waved like an angel.
Jealous husband, I thought.
But I wasn’t done.
After they left, I checked the passenger manifest, found her number, saved it under a false name. I never called her… but I could. I might.
Two weeks later, fate smiled again.
She returned—this time alone. No husband. Same struggle. Same load. And once again, I appeared like a savior.
She thanked me. Reached into her purse for a tip.
I declined.
Instead, I clasped her outstretched hand in a warm, lingering shake. Then gently patted her shoulder with my other hand. Before she could resist, I smiled and said, “Don’t worry… I’m just helping.”
That’s when a voice barked behind us:
“So this is what you’ve been doing?”
I froze.
Her husband. Eyes blazing. Jaw clenched. He had seen everything.
And in that moment, I wasn’t ashamed.
In fact, deep inside…
I smiled.
Now I know—peace will not return to that home.
Home breaker? Maybe.
But not every touch is innocent.
